That was it for the BVI, apart from barn swallows, which are already included. They have a couple of non-birds, including a large population of stout iguanas, very impressive lizards..

Thanks @TonyQ I assume it is some sort of breeding ritual - they did it on a couple of days, giving me plenty of chance to creep up on them....

Great pictures but my favourites are those of the Royal Terns.

Not often we get a selection from B.V.I so thanks for an interesting diversion.

Are you challenging for the EBC award with that Martin?

Some excellent images , the 5D4 is a great camera! You certainly get about too, your island visit looks idyllic.

Thanks @Dave Williams I have definitely come around to your way of thinking, but still not enjoying the extender (as you shall see in my next posts)

Guana island was amazing

Right, back to Blighty! Several opportunities were missed, when I had time, it rained, when I didn't it was sunny. I had some time at the start of the month and couldn't really decide where to go, so I chose the Ouse Washes. I haven't been there in high summer before and should have remembered that if things are  far away at high water level, then they will be further away with lower water levels, doh!  And of course, it being sunny at my house, by the time I got there, it had clouded over. I was lucky that it hadn't been a few weeks later, as it was due to close until the autumn for remedial work to the bank walls. Oh well, what can you do? It was very different to in spring, with fewer humans and actually I did tot up quite a high score in the end, including a couple that I have never seen there before. But no award winning photography. However, it did remind me that I don't like the extender, especially for BIF, as will become apparent....

Really?

That is surprising as we get them so regularly in Suffolk

I know what you mean. The lure of getting that little bit closer persuades me to add the 1.4x tc on many occasions and I am rarely happy with the result.

On most occasions I have found it better to work without the tc and then crop a wee bit more on a sharper image.

How is/are the Ouse Washes? Worth a couple of hours drive?
