Well done on the ton! Some interesting birds too. As for camouflage one of my biggest lenses has camouflage, the other, now departed, had black covers. Both for protection. I actually posses a full camouflage outfit which I bought specifically for a trip to Iceland. I don't use it that often, certainly not the whole kit and it's nothing to do with trying to hide myself, its to keep me protected. Ex army gear, windproof, waterproof,Goretex both jacket and trousers brand new for £80 or about 10% of the price of branded merchandise of the same quality of build. I can lay happily in mud and be blissfully unaware as I'm still warm and dry. Doesn't stop me feeling stupid in a public place though!!

Is it legal in the UK to wear military issue clothing?

Here, we may not wear current-issue, but can wear previous=generation stuff. However, the previous-generation stuff, while certainly good quality and very hard-wearing, certainly doesn't have the type of technology you are talking about. On the other hand, we don't need it very often.

Yes, if you are in the armed forces. :P

Last weekend hubbie and I headed down to Pine Creek for the weekend.  Pine Creek is a tiny town about 2.5 hours south of Darwin, it is meant to be a great birding location as the climate is just getting dry enough to get some of the more arid species mixed in with the tropical.

The primary target was an endangered species of parrot known to be found in the area.  Well we found it while we were eating lunch the first day and hadn't even started looking yet, in fact it turns out there is a resident population right in the middle of town.  In fact heading out to dinner that night they were all lined up on the power lines.

The second night I was even able to watch them coming in to roost sitting right out the front of our hotel with cider in hand - bliss.  I thought I would try for some BIF shots - this is the best I could do though

Moving on, I was a bit disappointed I didn't get more new species than I did, but here are the rest.

Mostly  a rather drab bird, but it has this amazing hidden patch of pink feathers on its neck it uses for displaying - you can just see it in this next shot

Some lovely photos. Love the Hooded Parrot. All birds should be that co-operative.

This bird is very common around Darwin, but I only recently realised I hadn't added it yet.

@shazdwn, just catching up on your beautiful Darwin collection, lovely photos and so many new birds for me. We had to cancel our booked trip to Alice a couple of weeks back, fingers crossed we'll get there soonish if the boarders reopen. We won't be getting up to Darwin this trip but hoping to get bird  lucky in the Alice to Uluru area.

Thanks @elefromoz The NT is reopening it’s borders on 17 July so hopefully you will be able to rebook your trip. You will find plenty of great birds around Alice

Opening its borders to other states, but not to the world, sadly. I'll just have to hold on to my Aussie dollars for a while longer :(

Yes that’s true. Let’s hope the world gets a grip on this thing soon, although I can’t see my passport coming out of the drawer anytime soon ☹️
