Wattled plover?

That's correct, Hari. ;)

Wattled Plover is the old name, this bird is now called African Wattled Lapwing.

It's your turn to post a picture...

Seems Hari left his birdcage open, and all birds have gone. :P

Hey Hari, I hope you don't mind putting another pic up (so to keep the momentum of this thread). ;)

Jochen -- you still have another picture in the run. What about the Barbet?

Ah well erm... I thought that was clear; of course you were right! It is a red fronted barbet!

Predator; close! (there are not that many woodpeckers with red on th chin...) But the golden-tailed is more greenish/yellowish on the back and has cheecks that are more white.

Von der Decken Hornbill (male)

I'm sure many of you are familiar with these hornbills, but just out of interest, here is what the female Von der Decken looks like:

At risk of being told off by Jochen for not waiting for him to confirm whether I'm right or wrong with my hornbill answer :) , I'm going to post a new bird to keep this game going....to spice things up a bit, I'm only showing part of the adult bird (otherwise you'd all get it in one...which you may well do anyway!) Here goes...

Absolutely right - Spur-winged Plover it is.

I photographed two little chicks hatching, and followed them as they grew...you can read their story here, and follow all the drama in step-by-step photos: Tsavo Plover Story.

Nyamera's turn [tern? ;) ]
