That's an exceptionally smart Goldfinch. The others will come.

I hope they do, more importantly I hope they come while I am watching

Luckily the weather has cooled down by about 12 degrees since last week, so I'm not spending hours sitting with a camera waiting and my family are making fewer comments about my sanity.

They can be very resilient and get used to anything these days.

Frustrating times.

Plenty of birds in the garden, but they seem to be conspiring against me. The only ones that come in sight are those I have already photographed and posted.

So, in the absence of any new species to add, I will post a few repeats, only because I think they are better than the ones posted previously.

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with garden birds. Your Chaffinch looks in tip top condition compared to mine.

We seem to have a lot of them around at the moment.

Lots of Blue Tits (as always), more Great Tits than usual, only a pair of Goldfinches and only a couple of Long-tailed Tits as well, usually there are many more.

Released from garden & DIY duty, I ventured out yesterday. It was just a walk really, but I did take a bridge camera with me just in case.

I didn;t find any bridges to photograph but something flew across above me and I knew it was not yet on my list.

It took me a while to find it among the branches

Here's a closer look, but due to the crop size it is not a very big image

At this rate I might just reach 200 by the end of the year

Very careful planning is required if bridges are to be photographed. They can be quite elusive and are not seen on the street often...

True. I am old enough to remember when it could land you in jail as they were regarded as strategic installations. Still are in some countries but happily not Suffolk.

Another first for me this afternoon, by a small stream that is a kind of tributary of the River Deben in Suffolk

Even down to the scientific name.

Is it not against the rules of wildlife protection to staple birds by their feet?

Take a 10 point deduction and go and stand in the corner , later write the following line 1000 times. " I must not follow the dodgy examples set by those of less principals that take part in the BY" .  I name no names @Galana @xelas take note:D

There you go again, naming names when you said you wouldn't. How can we ever trust you again?

Says the guy who hand feeds garden birds!;)

And naming names should omit me as a protected Whistleblower. I blew the whistle on that dreadful person whom I won't name but we all know where he lives!

I plead my case, Not Guilty as charged,  I name no names only pseudonyms..... unless of course @Soukous, @Galana and @xelas do really exist and are crew members of the Starship Enterprise

Well I cannot speak for the other two but Galana exists both as a river in Kenya and as a lovely female elephant in Tsavo East National Park.  Beam me up Scottie!

Well, since it seems that EBCs are now acceptable even from those who eschew them (mentioning no names @Dave Williams )

I will drop this one in. Spotted on our morning stroll, when I only had my phone with me, hence the crappy quality.

#125 - Barn Owl - Tyto alba

The only reason for posting 2 poses is for those doubters who might think I had stapled this one to the post (mentioning no names, see above)
