You are excused. Great photos.

Don't sleep too long. Tomorrow is Barn Owl Day.

Today I decided to go in search of a particular species. It has been eluding me so far this year but I know there are plenty of them around and i know where I'll find them, I hope.

My luck was in and I managed to find lots of them.

#129 - Reed Bunting - Emberiza schoeniclus

Shingle Stree, Suffolk. May 2020

It was a good couple of hours actually, and I managed one other new species, as well as several that I've already listed.

This has been corrected. (I hope) It is no longer a new species :( but just much better photos of previous listing

#21 Skylark

Shingle Street, Suffolk. May 2020

and one more, from the garden yesterday afternoon. The bird wasn't in the garden, but it was close enough for a long lens shot. Very happy about this one, even if it isn't a great shot, as I've been chasing this bugger for weeks.

#130 - Green Woodpecker - Picus viridis - (FTP #45)

Ufford, Suffolk, UK. May 2020

Well spotted. There are 2 different birds. Lazily, I listed them as the same species, mainly because they both appeared to have the same streaked crest.

Two Meadow Pipits as well? Does that help the score? I hope so as I also dubious about your Woodlark. The tail looks too long and the bill too thick.

Oops, Skylark then?

That negates the gain I just enjoyed for 30 seconds by adding the Meadow Pipit. :(

It does help the score, thank you., although the win is wiped out by the fact that I no longer have a Woodlark.

Do be assured I am liking the posts not out of glee but for your honesty. You need some cheering up.

Not really, but thanks for the sentiment. I'm actually really enjoying having to work hard to keep my score moving.
I tend to be very lazy with my UK birding as I am so accustomed to the ease of clocking up the species in Africa or India.

Always good to find a Green Woodpecker, and beautiful shots of the Reed Bunting.

#132 - Greater or Common Rhea - Rhea Americana

Suffolk, May 2020

OK, I don't think I'm allowed to count them. The white variant of the Rhea is one that has been bred in captivity, so probably not eligible.

@Soukous they breed these at a farm near one of our favourite reserves - Upton Warren in Worcestershire. I have seen them many times but not been tempted to count them :D

These birds have been here for about 10 years. It is not a breeding farm, just a large estate.

I'm not going to lobby for their inclusion. :)

Hmm @Soukous are they breeding outside of the farm?
