33/E33) Fieldfare (Turdus pilaris) / Wacholderdrossel

Tiebelmündung/Carinthia, 26/3/2022. Not the most charming singer. :)

34/E34) Grey-Headed Woodpecker (Picus canus) / Grauspecht

Drauhofen/Carinthia, 27/3/2022. My target today. Happy to have found it but he certainly could have done a much better job posing. A very shy bird.

Also flushed a Great Bittern! Totally unexpected but proof that anything can pop up during migraton. Unfortunately it was so early (before sunrise) that I still had my camera in my bag!

Might be a while, the TR takes precedence right now. But they will come. Eventually. :)

I have been so busy trying to get out and about during the excellent weather of late I'm way behind on BY checks never mind trip reports. When your Shoebill shot appeared I had a sudden desire to visit Uganda and a regret I didn't take the opportunity when it was there but I did note your comment on the TR about jungle birding. Tempered my desires anyway. I'll give it a serious read soon!!

Far be it from me to temper your desires Dave! :D And while birding might be a bit challenging within the forest there are are plenty of habitats in Uganda where birding is very easy.

35/E35) Little Ringed Plover (Charadrius dubius) / Flussregenpfeifer

Innsbruck Airport/Tirol, 28/3/22. A rare breeder in Tirol. The first one I´ve seen this year - a relatively confiding individual.

36/E36) Green Sandpiper (Tringa ochropus) / Waldwasserläufer

Mils/Tirol, 3/4/22. Not the most satisfying photo but quite a rare bird to see in my area. April is behaving true to form here, it was snowing this morning.

37/E37) Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) / Turmfalke

Mils/Tirol, 3/4/2022. Our most common bird of prey after the Buzzard. Should not be too hard to get something better later in the year.

38/E38) Eurasian Skylark (Alauda arvensis) / Feldlerche

Mils/Tirol, 3/4/2022. Getting scarcer and scarcer sadly. Love their song.

39/E39) Brambling (Fringilla montifringilla) / Bergfink

Gaisau/Tirol, 5/4/22. A lazy one - they should all be gone far North by now. Not a bird I see often (had BYs without them).

40/E40.) Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra) / Braunkehlchen

Mils/Tirol, 10/4/22. Migration is finally getting into gear. We had snow last night which forced the migrants down. Time to visit my favourite dungheap. :D

41/E41) Tree Pipit (Anthus trivialis) / Baumpieper

Mils/Tirol, 10/4/22. A classic ID problem. Extremely similar to Meadow Pipit (which was also present) but fortunately I got some photos clearly showing the much shorter hindclaw of this one. The finer stripes on the flanks are also helpful pointers.

42/E42) Common Linnet (Linnaria cannabina) / Bluthänfling

Mils/Tirol, 10/4/22. Big flocks of them in the fields today, more than 150 probably. Unfortunately none of the fully coloured males wanted to play.

Mils/Tirol, 10/4/22. Another guest - they don´t breed here in the alps.
