Great shots of very good species! Bearded Reedling and Purple Heron are always special sightings and your flight shot of the Peregrine is amazing!

Thanks - was lucky with the Peregrine. First dashed by and I could only look - then to my surprise it did a circle and came straight back at me.

83/E83) Common Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) / Jagdfasan

Lake Constance/Vorarlberg, 23/4/2022. Normally I get this bird in Seewinkel where it´s super common. It´s absent in Tirol.

84/E84) Red-Breasted Merganser (Mergus serrator) / Mittelsäger

Lake Constance, 24/4/2022. Ebc only - extremely far away but unlikely I´ll get another chance - have only seen this bird twice before.

85/E85) White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) / Weißstorch

Lake Constance/Vorarlberg, 24/4/2022. Another one I typically get in Seewinkel - where I´ll be this weekend. Looking forward to teaming up with @xelasand Zvezda! :-)

Such a productive location, and excellent photos, specially of Peregrine. BTW we are also looking forward to meet you at Seewinkel. Birding in Paris was only mediocre 😢.

86/E86) Common Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos) / Nachtigall

Mils/Tirol, 27/4/2022. An incredibly loud singer but so darn hard to get a good look at, let alone take a photo. Only a good chance immediately after they arrive in my experience. A very rare breeding bird in Tirol - we only have an estimated 20 or 30 pairs.

87/E87) Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata) / Grauschnäpper

Rum/Tirol, 3/5/2022. Always a rather late arrival, have never seen one before May.

88/E88) Red-Backed Shrike (Lanius collurio) / Neuntöter

Innsbruck Airport/Tirol, 4/5/2022. Same here, my first one of the year. They are very common in Seewinkel after arrival but we did not see a single one there last weekend. Just a tad too early for them.

I certainly want to Kit. But between work, birding locally and the trip report I simply haven't found the time yet. Soon I hope! :)

89/E89) Icterine Warbler (Hippolais icterina) / Gelbspötter

Baldramsdorf/Carinthia, 8/5/2022. The third of the classic late arrivals. Very rainy weekend - good birding (weather bringing the migrants down) but no light for photography.

@michael-ibkGreat shot of the Nightingale. Do you get the Thrush Nightingale as well?

@mvechtthanks! Not really, there are one or two birds every year but it´s a rarity.

For us it is the other way around :D

Interesting! I always considered Thrush Nightingale an Eastern European bird but xeno-canto shows it goes pretty far West farther North to us. And the Common Nightingale just seems to stop short of your border.

90/E90) Dunlin (Calidris alpina) / Alpenstrandläufer

Seewinkel/Austria, 30/4/2022. As you have seen in @xelas´s thread we joined up last weekend in Seewinkel. Such fun to get the gang back together, it was great being out birding with Alex and Zvezda again.

91/E91) European Bee-Eater (Merops apiaster) / Bienenfresser

Seewinkel/Austria, 30/4/2022. The colony here is always great fun to visit. But they only start to arrive early May so we were a tad early for them. We were already leaving when I thought I´d heard one and went back - and indeed, the first three of the year (probably) were there.

93/E93) Western Jackdaw (Coleus mondedula) / Dohle

Seewinkel, 29/04/2022. We do have a few colonies here at home in Tirol but so far I´ve never managed to get reasonably close. Easier in Seewinkel.

94/E94) Great Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus arundina) / Drosselrohrsänger

Seewinkel, 29/04/2022. Weird to see it in a tree - probably hasn´t found his patch in the reed yet.

95/E95) Spotted Redshank (Tringa erythropus) / Dunkler Wasserläufer

Seewinkel/Austria, 29/04/2022. One of the sparser waders. Unfortunately not in its stunning breeding plumage yet.
