47/E47) White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) / Bachstelze

Chiemsee/Germany, 11/5/2022. I know Dave is not too fond of them but I quite like them - their wagging always amuses me.

49/E49) Dunnock (Prunella modularis) / Heckenbraunelle

Chiemsee/Germany, 11/05/2022. It´s a tradition - time again for my UK friends to laugh about my excitement of seeing this one. :D

50/E50) Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) / Blaukehlchen

Chiemsee/Germany, 11/4/22. Really only possible to find them in their breeding quarters soon after arrival. Once they have stopped singing chances are zero. Managed to locate no less than 7 today but unfortunately none was as confiding as my fantastically cooperative specimen last year.

A wonderful Bluethroat, and I still like Dunnocks even though we see them everyday in the garden

I like all Wagtails and am quite fond of the Dunnock as it is now called.. It always seems quite confiding and with a name like Prunella so unlike Sybil Fawlty.

The Bluethroat makes a very worthy half century. Congratulations.

Beautiful set again, Michael. I see that your name for the Willow Warbler is the same as ours. I haven’t heard one here yet, but I loook forward to hearing them everywhere shortly.

Thanks! It seems Bluethroat really is a toughie for you in the UK - apparently none are breeding or wintering, just a few hundred on passage each year, and all of those stick to the Eastern coastline.

51/E51) Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) / Kormoran

Chiemsee/Germany, 11/4/2022. A few more from yesterday.

52/E52) Common Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) / Buchfink

Chiemsee/Germany, 11/4/2022. The most numeous breeding bird in Tirol. Great Tits and Sparrows top them in our annual garden counts but Chaffinches do very well in any habitat.

54/E54) Black-Headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) / Lachmöwe

Chiemsee/Germany, 11/5/2022. Abundant here - in Tirol we don´t have them. When one pops up that even justifies a message in our local "specials" WhatsApp group.

Innsbruck Airport/Tirol, 12/4/2022. The first one to start singing in the morning. I enjoy hearing them when I wake up.

brilliant shots, even of the bluethroat which I never tire of seeing. And I like the dunnock too, it kept us entertained while waiting for the vultures.

60/E60) Hooded Crow (Corvus cornix) / Nebelkrähe

61/E61) Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola) / Bruchwasserläufer

62/E62) Long-Tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis) / Eisente

Stausee Reißeck/Carinthia, 16/04/2022. A huge rarity for Austria, have only seen it once before. This one apparently now thinks it´s a Tufted Duck and never once left its new friends. :D
