The light wasn't as nice as my last visit, but I have couple of duplicates, including a festive one

Just realised that I skipped over a visit to Welney. I saw lots of birds but hardly any that were new, so I must have blanked it out!! Not the best shots or situations, but needs must...

We were supposed to go to the Seychelles back in June. This was a trip which had been postponed and changed many times due to COVID-19. This time there would be no issues with the pesky virus. Unfortunately, it was planned for 48 hours after I was discharged following major surgery, so it was cancelled again. Rebooking it was one of the things keeping me sane during my convalescence. By the time it was clear that I would be able to travel in October or November, the world and his wife decided that now was the time to get back into the travel saddle. The prices were more than £2k each from previously. The OH would not pay the extra. So I had the unenviable task of finding somewhere else warm that we could go to refresh, at the same time as being bitterly disappointed. The original trip was first booked in 2020! It turns out that November is an expensive time of year to travel (not a time I am used to). Thailand was the most economical. So we went to an island off of Phuket for 10 nights. It was not possible to get over to Phuket or Krabi early enough for a bird day tour, but we had an afternoon with a local guide on the island. The rest is just me wandering around the site. There was supposed to be a mangrove forest walking trail, which I had high hopes for, but it was closed for refurbishment. This left two beaches, the dense rainforest and gardens of the hotel to explore. We also did a kayak trip into the mangroves at Krabi, but it was very dense and not really what I was expecting, so did not add to the total. We have been to Koh Samui before, but a long time ago, so unless birds are widely distributed or present in Sri Lanka, they were likely to be new.
