Stopping now as my fingers are freezing (the study is the coldest room of the house). A few Welney duplicates to end today....

Congratulations on reaching 400 with a beautiful kingfisher. I can see how missing the Seychelles trip was a great disappointmetn, but I'm glad you still managed to get away and even score a host of lifers.

Thanks @PeterHG probably not as many as there would have been in the Seychelles....:(

Commiserations on your surgery and missing out on trips.

Well done on the magic #400 and the lifers. Love the 'headless' Pochard. Great shot.

Thailand was the most economical.

And I am sharing your travel decision(s)!

South of Thailand has similar birds to Indian subcontinent. But much better light conditions! Maybe north of Thailand has a different set of birds.

The 200-400 is a fantastic lens, and I am enjoying looking at your duplicates.

Your Collared Kingfisher looks quite different to the one we saw in India, or maybe it is just the pose

I think it’s the light - yours looks to be in shade whereas mine was in full sun

thanks @Zim Girl
