So that's what a brown wood Owl looks like. Take note @Galana I'm pretty sure yours was something totally different:D:D.

Yes. Punctuation and Capitals would suggest that.

A brown wood Owl can be one of many things. An Owl made of brown wood perhaps?;)

Did you used to teach English by chance? @Galana My use of capitals is often dictated by how hard I hit the right key on my board.... and before you get pedantic again, the key is actually on the left.:P

PS I agree wholeheartedly , no excuse to let standards slip.

No but the Tyrant who taught me had a way of making the lesson 'stick'. He used it with alacrity. Misuse of an apostrophe, hyphen and use of capitals left a lasting impression in more ways than one. But I do still have problems with BeeEater.:D

Didn't involve a blackboard duster by chance? They were regularly flying around when attention wasn't being paid, no wonder I never did get on with Latin, I was unconscious half the time and suffered memory loss as a result.

wow such beautiful shots of the birds  - many of which are familiar to us. we are thinking we should just stick to Malaysia for birding in the near future.... Not. and I'm so jealous of your Ms Brown-wing and Mr Black-capped. we came up empty-handed with Ms Brown-wing at the boat station and other parts but very pleased it showed for you.

Just thinking that your Brown wood owl is actually a spotted wood owl - which looks prettier than Mr Brown wood!

thank you for that identification @Kitsafari - good to have local knowledge! I think at the time we only recorded it as Wood Owl, and then picked the wrong one:)

We were very pleased with the kingfishers, and the Brown-winged one we thought particularly beautiful.

So @Galana and @Dave Williams after all of that digressionto your schooling, it wasn't a "Brown Wood Owl" after all:D

@PeterHG and @Galana thank you for your kind comments

This is an LBJ for @xelas.

It missed its place in the alphabetic order as I forgot to put it in, but I think it is a very pretty bird, in an understated way - suitable for No.100.

Wow, what a great set of birds from Malaysia, and congrats on your first 100 this year! That's a very cute LBJ. Love the Bee-Eaters and Kingfishers of course, especially the one with the abnormally huge beak. When is your SA trip supposed to happen?
